Jiří Skála
Text and possibilities of its use in gallery space is an important element of Jiří Skála´s conceptual approach. His textual installations often deal with a relation between object, its description, narration form and the personality of the narrator or the story protagonist. For Jiří Skála, text is a possibility for precise definition of contemporary situation. Experimentally, he examines the dialogue code and its reading, in interpersonal communication or in the electronic language of binars as well. He develops the reading strategy also in performative-public activities by organizing public readings or meetings focused on mobility in endless web space.
Jiří Skála is a 2009 laureate of the Jindřich Chalupecký Award. Together with Jiří Franta they founded the Etc. Gallery, one of the first independent spaces in Prague. Currently, he teaches at the Fine Arts Academy as the intermedia studio assistant.
